The Mariscal lagoon is connected to the Bacalar lagoon through a canal excavated by the Mayans since the pre-Classic Mayan period which in turn is connected to other channels of small lagoons that connects to Rio Hondo and in turn flows into the Chetumal bay and continues to the Caribbean Sea.
The Mayans, seeing the need they had to transport themselves from one place to another to carry out their commercial activities, create the different water channels that we can observe inside the lagoon.
This is how this water hole, called Mariscal lagoon , is created, which is surrounded by jungle, mangroves and reed beds. In the background lies soft white sand, it is a resting place for the traveling community and adventurers who like to explore new things, as well how to live with nature
The site is not only contemplative, it is a part of crystalline waters with a lighter blue shade for its white sand, you can perform different activities such as: swimming, kayaking, snorkeling and sailing.
