Quintana Roo a State of gum collector

Quintana Roo has an extensive vegetation of plants and trees, for example the tree known as chicozapote, from which sap or resin is obtained; for which, the gum collectors who were engaged in this economic activity - made incisions in the bark of the trees in the form of a zigzag, so that it would run off and with some bags, specially made for this function, they could collect it.

The workers extracted it in small quantities, mainly in rainy seasons, since at first, it was for their personal use: to chew, to clean their teeth and to quench their thirst, as well as to make candles. At this time it was not yet commercialized, so it was consumed naturally.

At the end of the 19th century the industrialization of this product began thanks to Antonio López de Santa Anna, who during his exile in New York, informed the inventor Thomas Adams that it was possible to manufacture tires with the resin, which he carried with him to try to market it.

After trying to make not only tires, but toys and other products without success, the skilled inventor put it on sale in its pure way and combined with artificial flavors and colors. Chickza is a totally Mexican company, in which it is responsible for producing organic chewing gum, without coloring, with neutral flavor and with flavoring, just as it has its own tree garden where the chewing gum is called, chico zapote.

It is one of the Mexican companies that export their products outside the country of Mexico, it is distributed in two continents: Europe and Asia, where they are the most consuming countries of Chickza products.
